“I was about six years old when I was kidnapped at elementary school. It happened right in the school playground. Two officers from the RCMP showed up. They pushed me into the back seat of a car before driving away. I did not know where they were taking me. My mother did not know either. For three days, she was in a state of panic, not knowing where I was. For three days, she was worried sick. She did not know where her daughter was. Finally, she was told that I had been taken to a residential school. Many Indigenous children were taken like this. Me must never let anything like that happen again. Never, ever again.”

“J’avais environ six ans quand on m’a kidnappée à l’école primaire. C’est arrivé directement dans la cour de récréation. Deux agents de la Gendarmerie royale du Canada sont arrivés. Ils m’ont poussée à l’arrière d’une voiture et ils m’ont amenée. Je ne savais pas où ils m'emmenaient. Ma mère n’avait aucune idée de l’endroit où ils m’avaient amenée. Pendant trois jours elle était en état de choc, morte d’inquiétude. Elle ne savait pas où était sa fille. Finalement, on lui a dit que sa fille était au pensionnat. Plusieurs enfants autochtones ont été enlevés comme ça.
On ne veut plus jamais voir une chose comme ça. Non. Plus jamais”.
