Nameless Graves by Illness
Music by Illness, Words by Dave V.

Lyrics

A blazing sun and Teepees were rising
When I met this man on Parliament Hill
He walked all the way from Bear Lake BC
To share the voice of his family
He carried the weight of a missing child
Brought a pair of shoes to add to the pile
And my heart sank when I read the words
Written all over his girl’s Converse

Every child matters they say
Some matters more these days
Every child matters they say
And they look the other way

Nameless graves
They tore out the pages but memories remain
Nameless graves
Those who could not make it got
Nameless graves

They dug out the truth one tomb at the time
Scattered parts of young stolen lives
Buried under hundred years of lies
Jailors long gone, never paid for their crimes
Skulls and bones in their school uniforms
Political hacks feeding on the storm
From the Great Plains to the Hudson Bay
This genocide keeps damaging kids today

Every child matters they say
Some matters more these days
Every child matters they say
And they look the other way

Nameless graves
They tore out the pages but memories remain
Nameless graves
Those who could not make it got
Nameless graves
